WordPress Websites Outperform Traditional Websites

WordPress Sites Outperform Traditional Websites

The Internet of the Past

Users of the internet were much different 20 years ago. One reason for that is technical; the dial-up internet connections at the time were holding usage back. Less data could be stored and accessed on servers by the average user, and as a result the internet featured data-light websites and applications. From the user experience, interacting with the internet meant both that your home phone was inaccessible and that you were going to invest some time into waiting for pages to load. Many web pages acted as nothing more than static billboards, displaying HTML information passively.

Web 3.0 and Today’s User

Fast-forward to present day, and you’ll see a much different type of person using the internet. Users expect a full experience when they visit a website. Inter-connectivity between devices means that the web’s big players are required to be active on many platforms simultaneously. Content is king, and has been reigning for 20 years now. A site’s visitor will be disappointed if content has not changed between visits. Search engines, social media, and apps are fully integrated into our everyday life, and current technology trends indicate that we will only become more connected to the internet in the future.

Still, the website is the hub in which users interact with the internet. Many companies have adapted very well to this new web ecosystem, managing websites with highly crafted content and regular updates. We recommend using a website run by WordPress, as it provides you with a high quality content management system that is flexible to many various website functionalities. Here are the 5 Reasons WordPress Websites Outperform Traditional Static HTML Websites.

Narragansett Beer’s Dynasty: Locale is Central to its Brand Identity

Narragansett Beer’s Dynasty: How Locale is Central to its Brand Identity

Alex Colburn, Brand Strategist, Colburn Strategic Partners

A 125 Year Old Dynasty

Narragansett Brewing Company (NBC), now a 125 year old brand, has deep ties to New England and its home in Rhode Island. Surviving through the Prohibition and the Great Depression, it grew to be an instantly recognizable brand through its sponsorship of the Boston Red Sox. It’s slogan, “Hi Neighbor, Have a ‘Gansett!” was the crux of the sponsorship marketing, announced by American sportscaster Curt Gowdy and others every Red Sox game for nearly two decades. In a time when beer was simply beer, Narragansett had a Lager, an Ale, and a Porter.

Narragansett was a beer for the people, and locals have stuck by the brand despite its tumultuous history. In the mid 1960’s Narragansett Brewing Company switched ownership, and sales declined gradually through until 1981 when the main brewery in Rhode Island was shut down. In 1998 the main brewery in Cranston RI was demolished; Narragansett became a shell of its past glory, supported by die-hard locals and bars.

In Memory of Our Partner Jo-Ann Colburn

We would like to take this moment in memory of Jo-Ann Colburn, our partner in every sense of the word in business and our personal lives. She lived a life of grace and hope while struggling with Chronic Lyme Disease for 15 years. A few weeks ago, at age 50, she succumbed to her illness while surrounded by our three sons and myself. We are devastated by this loss of someone so dear to us but somewhat comforted that Jo-Ann’s pain and suffering has ended.

A founding partner of Colburn Strategic Partners, Inc., Jo-Ann often worked behind the scenes. She had a keen sense for business and strategic instincts, along with an almost supernatural ability to size-up a person. She also worked with me for over 22 years at Foster Survey Company.
